Swisscom sets the stage for a successor to the chairmanship of the Board

Berne, 18 September 2009

The Swisscom Board of Directors will propose Hansueli Loosli for election as the new Chairman at the next-but-one Annual General Meeting in April 2011. Hansueli Loosli has been a member of the Board of Directors of Swisscom Ltd. since April 2009.

The current Chairman of the Swisscom Board of Directors, Anton Scherrer, has decided to settle his succession in good time, with the aim of ensuring continuity on the Board and intensive training for his successor in the complex duties of Chairman. Swisscom is therefore already setting the stage this year for his successor to the chairmanship of the Board.

The Board of Directors has decided to propose Hansueli Loosli for appointment to the chairmanship of the Board at the Annual General Meeting in April 2011. Hansueli Loosli was elected as a member of the Swisscom Board of Directors in April 2009.

The 54-year-old has been Chairman of the Executive Board of Coop since 2001. He has an extensive track record in managing large companies in the consumer goods and retail sectors. His achievements at Coop include realigning the cooperative structure and implementing a successful long-term growth strategy. Hansueli Loosli will hand over operational management in April 2011, when he will take over as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Coop. He will then focus on the mandates at Swisscom and the Coop Group.
