Berne, 03 May 2010
Swisscom is extending its range of digital certificates and from the second half of 2010 will offer the standardised electronic proof of identity SuisseID. Only corporate customers are eligible for this offer.
Digital certificate services are becoming more and more important in the corporate customer market, as collaboration between staff and with customers and suppliers is increasingly taking place via electronic communication channels. In such situations, it must be possible to exchange data in a secure and controlled manner. With SuisseID, electronic business processes are secure and transparent, and you can ensure that only authorised users are able to access data. SuisseID is a standardised Swiss proof of identity, which enables both a valid digital signature in accordance with the Swiss Signatures Act (ZertES) and secure authentication.
Swisscom is offering its corporate customers SuisseID as a service. Corporate customers can use Swisscom's certified infrastructure to issue and manage SuisseID cards for their staff, customers and suppliers. Swisscom operates the required infrastructure, takes care of the necessary certification and guarantees an optimum service. Swisscom is focussing its SuisseID activities solely on corporate customers in a business to business offering. The company has no current plans to make the service available to residential customers and SMEs. As a recognised certificate service provider, Swisscom has been offering digital identity and certificate services since 2005.
