Hans Werder appointed to the Board of Directors of Swisscom as the government's representative from April 2011

Swisscom acknowledges that the Federal Council today appointed Hans Werder to the Board of Directors of Swisscom as its representative. He will replace Felix Rosenberg, who is stepping down in 2011. In accordance with the Articles of Incorporation, the government's representative on the Board of Directors of Swisscom Ltd is appointed not at the Annual General Meeting but by the government itself.
Hans Werder (64) is General Secretary of the Federal Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication (DETEC). He is due to reach statutory retirement age at the end of January 2011 and will take over the mandate on the Swisscom Board of Directors after the Annual General Meeting in April 2011. Werder has extensive knowledge of the company as well as of the government's strategy. The government's representative has the task of representing the interests of the government on the Board of Directors.
Hans Werder will replace Felix Rosenberg, who has been the government's representative on the Swisscom Board of Directors since its inception.
