With its new range of Managed Services, Swisscom is responding to the changing communications needs in today's business world. Integrated communications solutions are becoming increasingly complex to operate and tie up ever more corporate capital and expertise. Companies' growing need to concentrate on core business is accelerating the trend towards infrastructure outsourcing.
To meet these customer requirements, Swisscom is combining its new Managed Service offering, in a first step, with UCC applications, a secure network (LAN, WAN) and connectivity to the Internet and the telephone network. As well as providing advice, Swisscom will assume responsibility for planning and operating the solution. It will operate separate systems for each customer and offer maximum flexibility and scalability in order to accommodate individual customer needs. Experts in Swisscom's operations centre will monitor operation and security round the clock and ensure that the applications are always up to date.
Customers will procure the solution at a fixed price per user and month, thereby avoiding investment and technology risks. "For companies, networking and communication are of key importance to their operations. Swisscom's Managed Services enable customers to concentrate on their core business while we take care of their communications and collaboration infrastructure," says Erich Gebhardt, Head of Product Development in Swisscom's Corporate Business division. "We implement our Managed Services in close collaboration with Microsoft and HP. This partnership between manufacturer and service provider gives customers peace of mind, safe in the knowledge that their solutions are in expert hands."
The biggest provider of comprehensive office solutions in the German-speaking part of Switzerland already relies on a Managed Service solution from Swisscom. The company has optimised its entire communications infrastructure with Swisscom's Managed Service for Unified Communications & Collaboration. Bruno Anderegg, Head of Operations & ICT at Witzig, knows: "Thanks to presence management, desktop sharing and instant messaging, collaboration has become so much easier. In addition, online meetings and document sharing greatly reduce the number of business trips required. We will save an estimated 2,800 working hours a year and our business model will allow us to amortise the costs within two years."
