After three successful years as CEO of Swisscom Health AG, Thomas Bachofner has decided to pursue new professional opportunities. Swisscom regrets this decision, as Bachofner and his management team have carried out important groundwork for further growth in the healthcare market and advanced several key customer projects for Swisscom Health.
Thomas Bachofner has set Swisscom Health on a strategic path for sustainable commercial success. With hard work and dedication, he has helped achieve the agile transformation of the company and established professional software development. This laid the foundation, among other things, for the timely completion of the electronic patient record platform in eleven cantons to date, serving more than half of the Swiss population. The cloud-based practice management software curaMED has been developed significantly and the number of users increased. Swisscom Health is losing a proven strategist and manager in Thomas Bachofner.
In order to ensure continuity and stability in the management and strategy of Swisscom Health, a coordinated medium-term succession plan has been initiated. Markus Sager, a proven entrepreneur, has been recruited as the new CEO of Swisscom Health AG. He brings comprehensive expertise in ICT development and operation. Most recently, Sager spent nine years successfully managing Comfone AG, an SME with an international focus in the roaming business.
Thomas Bachofner will continue to be fully responsible for Swisscom Health until the end of September 2019. Markus Sager will familiarise himself with his new role over the coming months before officially taking over as CEO on October 1.
