Festival of Holidays

What do country lore, agricultural tradition, and fine craftsmanship have to do with the most modern connectivity? A lot - because to experience our origins, we need modern technology, and that's what Swisscom Broadcast is providing for the "Festival of Holidays". This was the name of a major event that took place on 24 and 25 September and 1 and 2 October 2022 in the Ballenberg Museum of Rural Life. The event brought together 15 regional festivals from all over Switzerland. Our temporary ICT infrastructure supported the Lucerne Cider Festival with the Castagnata from Graubünden and the Grape Harvest Festival over the two weekends in Ballenberg.

For several days, representatives of the Swisscom Broadcast event ICT team, assisted by two civil guards, scoured the fields and forests surrounding the festival site at the Ballenberg open-air museum and set up an event network so that the organizing committee, regional festival organizers, and suppliers of regional delicacies were always and everywhere connected at the open-air museum site. From the temporary network infrastructure and WLAN connection throughout the site to the rental of pre-configured smartphones with SIM cards, Swisscom Broadcast enables all participants to interact and communicate optimally.

There is no room for parochialism, language barriers, or the Röstigraben (the Rösti curtain) at the Festival. Solidarity throughout Switzerland is at the heart of the project. And connecting Switzerland and its people is what we do too: In every situation - with the heart and the best network.
