25 May 2021 | Swisscom extends its radio solutions with the Push-to-Talk service With the addition of a Push-to-Talk over Mobile solution, Swisscom Broadcast is continuing to expand its own mobile communications services. 16 April 2021 | Morissen transmitter site equipped with photovoltaic plant Our sunny transmitter site high above the small mountain village of Morissen in the Grisons is now producing eco-friendly electricity for its own use. Around 170 photovoltaic modules covering an area of 320 square metres were installed on the roof of the transmitter building. The annual electricity production is estimated at 64,000 kilowatt-hours, which corresponds to the average annual electricity consumption of around 13 Swiss households. |

17 February 2021 | New radio equipment for Zurich Airport Swisscom Broadcast is furnishing Zurich Airport with new radio equipment. New equipment is being provided to all airport partners, the various radio device groups, including maintenance services and ground handling as well as vehicles on the tarmac, such as pushback tractors and winter service vehicles. The new equipment consists of hand-held and vehicle radio devices as well as a new programming environment. The service will also include device configuration and programming. Swisscom Broadcast will be responsible for the complex installation of the vehicle radio devices. Implementation will take place during ongoing operations and must ensure uninterrupted processes. 4 February 2021 | Swisscom supports vaccination centres in two cantons In January, the national vaccination Initiative against COVID-19 launched the largest vaccination campaign in recent Swiss history. The action also poses major challenges for the cantons. The centres are particularly dependent on assistance in the areas of logistics and infrastructure. Thanks to its years of experience with temporary connectivity and ICT Infrafstruktur, Swisscom event & Media Solutions-together with other areas of Swisscom-can significantly support two cantons in the construction and operation of the corona vaccination centres. |

30 July 2020 | New video management system for the mountain lifts in Zermatt Swisscom Broadcast is helping Zermatt Bergbahnen AG to integrate all existing and new surveillance cameras into a single video management system. To date, a variety of different individual systems have been in operation. By the end of the year, a total of 233 cameras will have been migrated or reinstalled in stages without disrupting operations. The benefits are clear: a centralised, networked system will allow the seamless monitoring and operation of mountain lift systems across the whole region. |

2 July 2020 | From analogue to digital: new private radio network for IWB Swisscom Broadcast has been commissioned to plan and implement a new digital private radio network for IWB Industrielle Werke Basel. Analogue radio will be replaced by DMR technology. Following a careful analysis of the coverage area, we will set up the network at an ideal location with a radio repeater. The future radio network will provide an emergency communication system in the event of power failures. Hytera handheld receivers and a mobile station at the control centre round off our integrated solution. |

The 400th DAB+ transmitter was commissioned in April 2020, allowing the operators SRG, SwissMediaCast and Romandie Médias SA to provide listeners with a diverse range of more than 90 radio programmes. The DAB+ expansion is scheduled for completion in 2021. |

7 April 2020 | State-of-the-art video surveillance solution at Denner – rollout underway Denner is Switzerland's largest discount supermarket chain, with more than 800 branches. Swisscom Broadcast equips around 50–70 Denner branches with a cutting-edge video surveillance system every year to support staff safety and to prevent and investigate theft, burglary and assault. Critical areas are monitored with eight to ten cameras per location. The video management system is administered centrally for all locations, allowing the security service fast and easy access to the image data. |
10 March 2020 | FCA again awards contract to Swisscom Broadcast Swisscom Broadcast has been responsible for maintenance and fault rectification of the POLYCOM network for the Swiss Border Guard (SBG) since 2011. In a selective procedure in accordance with the GATT/WTO, the Federal Customs Administration (FCA) invited tenders for the renewal of its framework contract for network maintenance. The FCA was once again won over by the competitive price offered by Swisscom Broadcast as well as its good fulfilment of the other award criteria. Following the FCA’s decision, Swisscom Broadcast will be the maintenance partner for a further five years with the option of contract extension until 2030. |

11 December 2019 | Swissgrid selects Swisscom Broadcast ALTRAVIS is an intelligent alarm tracking and visualisation system from Swisscom Broadcast. Swissgrid AG has now opted to use our solution too. Swissgrid is the national grid company responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Swiss extra-high voltage grid as part of its legal mandate and as the transmission network owner. Swissgrid has chosen to work with Swisscom Broadcast to set up the new visualisation and alarm system and migrate existing recording devices. 25 November 2019 | More than 350 video cameras for Swisscom data centres Swisscom Broadcast has equipped four Swisscom data centres with video surveillance solutions “as-a-service». The systems will be monitored 24/7 via a centralised video management tool with high IT security and availability. The systems deploy over 350 video cameras that can be scaled as required. If the existing video surveillance solution is extended, additional cameras can be integrated at any time. The use of video data is governed by Swiss data protection law. |
22 November 2019 | Photovoltaic roof for Saanen Hornfluh transmission facility Another Swisscom Broadcast transmitter site has been upgraded with a photovoltaic system. The previous roof of the Hornfluh transmission facility has been replaced with an in-roof PV installation. The new roof is equipped with a snow guard to protect the safety of people at the facility and therefore meets the requirements set out for high-altitude sites. From now on, the location will produce at least 46,782 kWh of solar energy per year, which equates to the annual electrical energy consumption of 12 average Swiss households. |

The Canton of Vaud – Department for Institutions and Safety – invited tenders for a project to upgrade its POLYCOM backbone network. 3 tenders were received. Swisscom Broadcast was awarded the contract to upgrade the POLYCOM backbone network for the Cantonal Police of Vaud. The winning tender was the one that came out on top in the multi-criteria analysis. |

The Swiss Federal Gymnastics Festival (FGF) is Switzerland's largest mass sporting event. It took place between 13 and 23 June 2019.
