What is Swisscom Video Insider?
A cloud-based Video-Intelligence-as-a-Service solution from Swisscom with a web-based application, combining Security Intelligence (SI) with Business Intelligence (BI) on a single platform.
What is meant by “Security Intelligence”?
Security Intelligence helps to prevent and solve cases of burglary, assault, theft and other offences. In the event of a break-in, Video Insider can send an alarm message or signal.
What is meant by “Business Intelligence”?
Business Intelligence analyses business-relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI) on the basis of video data and other sources. In particular, Video Insider can count visitors, record their gender and age and measure their length of stay. Users therefore gain important information about customers and their behaviour and can improve the efficiency of their core business.
What type of data is collected/stored by Video Insider?
Video Insider distinguishes between two types of data:
for security surveillance purposes, Video Insider transfers video data to the Swisscom Data Centre;
for Business Intelligence purposes, data is purely analysed on the sensor; only metadata is transferred to the Swisscom Cloud. Images are immediately converted into metadata (and therefore not stored as images) and no personalised data is available.
This guarantees the data protection of visitors and employees. Video Insider complies with personal and data protection regulations.
Where is data stored? How long is data stored for?
Video data is stored and protected in a Swiss data centre for a selected period of time and never leaves Switzerland.
Can Business Intelligence data be traced back to individuals?

Are customers informed that Video Insider is being used?
When a sensor is installed, users of video surveillance systems are required by law to inform customers about the video surveillance in place, irrespective of whether it is for BI or SI purposes. This is notified at the entrance.
How many sensors can I connect to Video Insider?
Swisscom Broadcast offers the ideal solution based on customer requirements, ensuring that the optimum number of sensors are used.
How much does Video Insider cost? What other costs will be involved when I purchase a system?
With Video Insider, Swisscom Broadcast is selling a service that includes the hardware.
The customer only pays for the service purchased and this depends on the functionality and sensors chosen.
What does this service include?
Swisscom Broadcast ensures that customers are in complete control of their costs and security. The infrastructure with cameras and software is available as a service. Swisscom Broadcast takes care of the installation, maintenance, operation, support and updates for the hardware and software.
