Berne, 22 April 2015

Session Border Controllers (SBC) are a secure conjunct between customers’ own UCC-Networks like Microsoft Lync or Alcatel and the secure IP-Network of Swisscom. Swisscom has been recognized for its knowledge in Oracle Communications Session Border Controllers by achieving Oracle PartnerNetwork Specialization in Oracle Enterprise Communications. Furthermore, Swisscom is a leading service provider who can sell, plan und operate Oracle Communications Session Border Controllers – Acme Packet 3820 and 6300 in a managed service environment.

Until the end of 2017, Swisscom transfers all conventional TDM-based subscriberlines to IP-Technology. Session Border Controllers (SBCs) connect a customer’s own IP-based Unified Communications networks with the secure IP-Network of Swisscom. They act as a translator of different UCC-Standards such as transmission protocols or coding procedures within the different sub-networks. Moreover, SBCs also provide increased security functions. They are designed to protect the company infrastructure from external assaults. The hardware based SBCs act like a data firewall but are specialised in voice traffic. SBC protected IP-networks can be more secure than conventional TDM-networks.
