Enterprise Search configurable based on individual requirements

With version 4.0 of Swisscom Enterprise Search, customers can configure their personal search solution in line with their individual requirements – in the simple, user-friendly manner that they are accustomed to.

Individual relevance scoring

Relevance refers to how usable a document is in relation to a specific topic or search request. With Enterprise Search 4.0, you can now independently choose your own weighting for the fields used in the search request.

Morphological analysis

Enterprise Search 4.0 now supports the following process of morphological analysis to improve search performance:

  • Automatic removal of diacritical characters such as ', ^ and ¨
  • Automatic conversion of search terms in your word database so that the use of singular or plural terms (e.g. fox and foxes) or different tenses (e.g. jump and jumped) do not have any negative influence on the ability to find relevant results
  • Extension of existing stop words for the most important languages as well as the option of adding your own stop words (per language or in general)
  • Extension of existing synonyms (e.g. "fast" also finds "swift", or "UK" also finds "United Kingdom") for the most important languages as well as the option to add your own synonyms (per language or in general

Dynamic faceting

A faceting search, also referred to as faceted navigation or faceted browsing, is a technique for accessing information, which is organised based on a faceted classification system, so that users can search through a collection of information using multiple filters. These filters can now be created based on individual requirements, which means indexed documents within a company can be classified in advance based on own criteria, and then filtered later on by the end users in order to provide a clearer overview.

Workflow engine

Enterprise Search 4.0 supports the definition of customer-specific workflows. Documents that need indexing can therefore be processed based on defined rules, such as the adjustment of meta data, automatic classification or extraction of keywords. The corresponding rules and sequences can be defined simply via the GUI and changed whenever required.

Indexing and search analysis

With the latest version of the Enterprise Search solution you can now maintain a clear overview of statistics for your entire index as well as the executed search requests at all times. This means you are fully aware of the effectiveness and success of recurrent indexing at all times and also know how many search requests were carried out and what the content and average response time was, which in turn allows you to make targeted improvements on an ongoing basis.
