Nowadays virtually every new business idea, every process optimisation and every product is based to a considerable extent on the reliable transfer of digital data. And the digitalisation of the economy is far from complete. Efficient mobile communication and cloud computing mean that all mobile activities can be incorporated almost seamlessly into digital processes. Big data and ever more intelligent collaboration solutions permit further substantial productivity increases in the area of knowledge work.
The further automation and process acceleration is made possible thanks to efficient networks, which integrate all systems, locations, employees and partners securely – worldwide and round the clock.
The Internet of Things (IoT) will open up a whole world of new possibilities. Independent, global communication and networking between machines and objects will break up many existing value-creation chains and enable new business models to emerge.
The basis for driving forward digitalisation in a company is a stable information and communication infrastructure. As a telecommunication specialist, Swisscom offers a comprehensive range of products and solutions with which companies can develop their digitalisation plans on a solid foundation – from local networks to global location and system networking, all the way through to M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communication between machines and objects.
How things work at Swisscom
Together with Ericsson and the industry community M2M Apps, Swisscom launched the M2M Challenge in 2012. This competition selects the world’s best application of Machine-to-Machine and IoT (Internet of Things) technologies. The competition, which has now been integrated into the Innovation World Cup Series as the IoT/M2M Innovation World Cup, is now considered the most important display of achievement in the strongly growing M2M market.
