«SAP Services provided and continues to provide clear, transparent solutions that meet our requirements.»
Michael Schütz,
Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, DT Swiss Group
As the industry leader, DT Swiss Group wants to focus on its core competences – the development and production of new high-end components for bicycles. The processes behind this must be handled in a largely automated system with few intermediate steps and without any interfaces, which should ultimately result in the wheels turning faster.
Rapid technological development sets the pace in the field of wheel and suspension components. As a result, an increasing number of new materials, improved functionality and lower weight are what distinguishes DT Swiss's high-quality components.
DT Swiss has responded to these requirements by continuously improving all processes throughout every area of production. At the same time, the service quality must be increased, for example by reducing throughput times and making information available across all relevant corporate divisions and company locations. The logistics and administrative processes must be able to be adjusted to constantly changing conditions, and a perfectly functioning IT solution and a flexible IT advisory partner are an absolute must.
From 2007 to 2009, the SAP Services division of Swisscom carried out the task of creating uniform data structures and processes using the SAP® All-in-One All for Machine solution. Thanks to the international rollout of the SAP software in Poland, Taiwan and the US, which was carried out by specialists from Swisscom, all of our offices around the world are now able to deal with business processes seamlessly. Today, consistency is the byword in business processes that were previously only able to be mapped in a roundabout manner, often requiring additional software with numerous interfaces. In addition, the handling of foreign trade has been simplified and automated thanks to the introduction of SAP GTS (Global Trade Solutions).
A supply chain that runs smoothly and in the fastest possible times requires efficient warehouse processes. To optimise its goods logistics, DT Swiss opted for SAP Warehouse Management to be introduced on a global scale. Thanks to the ability to enter data on the go via an iPod that is directly connected to SAP via HTML5, huge savings can be made as regards methods and time.
The requirements that DT Swiss AG had placed on its business software were fully met by the SAP systemimplemented by Swisscom. The extensive functionality, a completely integrated architecture without any interfaces and the huge expandability continue to prove impressive. "Even though we are a small company, we utilise the same processes as a major corporation. We are therefore very well positioned with SAP, with particular regard to the fact that our IT systems can easily grow with us", said Michael Schütz.
DT Swiss Group is one of the world's leading system suppliers of high-end components for bicycles. The Group has offices in Biel, Switzerland, as well as in other locations including the US, Taiwan and Poland, from where around 420 employees support and supply more than 400 customers from over 50 countries.
