The Bon Génie/Grieder department store group has a leading position in the fashion sector. A highly powerful technical backbone is indispensable for managing around 40,000 items. In introducing a new voice and data network, the company aims to fulfil both its present and future needs.
The solution planned and implemented by Swisscom is based on a LAN-I over IPSS network and Optical-link Services. The main stores in Geneva, Lausanne, Zurich and Bern have Corporate Access (10 MB). The Geneva store and its corporate management are directly connected by Opticallink Services (125 MB Fast Ethernet) to the Carouge central purchasing office. The other points of sale are connected by Branch Access (512 kbps). Whilst they are travelling worldwide, purchasers have fast reliable access to corporate data thanks to Remote Access Service.
The Brunschwig Group currently makes use of 18 different Swisscom service offerings. Each of these service offerings contributes towards increased efficiency, transparency and a reduction in costs. The company has an extremely high-performance IP platform on which it is possible to install new applications rapidly and easily, such as Voice over IP, payment traffic and the connection of new branches.
