The second national Digital Day took place in October 2018. With over 70 partners taking part, the event was almost double the size of the previous year. In over twelve cities throughout Switzerland, people got the chance to discover the digital world in a new and exciting way. Events at various locations could be followed via live streaming at Zurich’s main station or at home. The importance of informing the general population about digitalisation was highlighted by the presence of two Federal Councillors, Johann Schneider-Ammann and Alain Berset.
The organisers of the event contracted Swisscom Event & Media Solutions to handle the technical project management of Digital Day. True to our motto ‘Switzerland’s best network’, our network infrastructure formed the backbone of the event. Using fibre optic cables, we connected Geneva, Lugano, Chur and other locations with the main event at Zurich’s main station, while our live streaming ensured that both visitors and viewers at home could experience everything first-hand. We also installed all the audio and video technology and lighting at the main station and fitted 42 partner stands with event hardware and a few custom solutions. Without a doubt, however, the highlight was our LED screen – over 100 m2 in size – that kept visitors in the main station up to date with the events on Digital Day.
