Television images of the 2016 UEFA European Championship in France had a long way to travel before reaching living rooms and public screenings in Switzerland. To ensure perfect signal transmission in HD quality, we installed two 10 Gbit connections from Paris to Zurich for SRG SSR. Part of the line capacity was also used for SRG’s temporary workplaces in France and various broadcasting applications (file transfer, slow motion servers, etc.). We also managed the overall coordination for SRG of high-speed internet lines in the Swiss training camp in Juvignac and for ARD/ZDF in the German training camp in Evian, which was required for the transmission of reports to Paris – a task that demanded perfect coordination between on-site technicians, local telecommunication companies and TV stations. Many international suppliers were involved in this project. As general contractor, we provided SRG with a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) service.
