Questions about Smart Business Connect

Can Internet Backup also be used with the fixed IP option?

Internet Backup can be used with fixed IP, unless the customer has set up PPPoE Passthrough.

Can I use any router for Business Internet Services?

No. Business Internet Services requires a Swisscom Centro Business router.

How do you ensure that a call will go to my local emergency number when there are several company sites?

Emergency calls are directed according to the trunk location.

With Business Connect there was one trunk, and I could share the channels across different locations. Can channels also be shared with Smart Business Connect?

Channel sharing is supported with SIP-SIP and SIP-Direct, but not SIP-ISDN. It should be noted that channel sharing only works if all sites use the same SIP-SIP or SIP-Direct trunk technology.

Can I plug a fully configured IP handset into another network?

Yes. Since the SIP credentials are stored in the handset, the number and services remain unchanged. The user can therefore be contacted on their original number anywhere. This is called nomadic use.

Can I bring my own IP handsets with me and use them with Smart Business Connect Hosted?

No. Swisscom offers a wide range of tested and certified telephones for Smart Business Connect. Customers can obtain these through their partner. If they are the same types as those authorised for Smart Business Connect Hosted, they can still be used. However, their MAC addresses must be registered with Swisscom.

Are the handsets automatically updated with the latest software?

Yes, there are automatic updates. In addition, new features that are added to a service over time will automatically be available to all customers who use the service.

Is there a company telephone directory?

Yes. There will be 3 directories: company, site and personal.

Can I assign telephone numbers to the two ATA ports on the Centro Business?

Yes, you can.

Can I connect ISDN handsets to the Centro Business?

No, ISDN is not supported by Hosted and Trunk.

Two users have the International communications package, which includes 300 minutes per user. Can these minutes be shared, i.e. if user A uses up their 300 minutes, can they use user B's allowance?

No. A communications package is allocated to one user and the features cannot be shared.

Can you make outgoing calls simultaneously with the hardphone, PC client and smartphone app?

Yes. Note: only one app or client can be active. For example, if an app is active on one smartphone and the app is opened on another smartphone, the first app will become inactive.

Do telephone calls with the Business Communication app only use the data network or the mobile telephone network?

Calls made with the app use the data network (mobile data network or WLAN), and this will continue to be the case with the introduction of UCC.

Can I use 058 numbers with Smart Business Connect?

No, 058 numbers cannot be imported. However, 058 numbers can be diverted to a Smart Business Connect number and, for outgoing calls, the 058 number CLIP can be assigned to this number.

Can I use the Business Communication app on more than one device at the same time?

You can download the Business Communication app onto more than one device and log in with the same username and password. However, the app cannot be used on more than one computer and one smartphone at the same time. It works seamlessly, which means that communication, e.g. a chat, can be started on a PC and continued on your smartphone. The Business Communication app is not yet available for tablets. The app only supports one telephone number, so you cannot use more than one telephone number with the same login.

Can I use Skype4Business from Microsoft at the same time as the Business Communication app?

Desktop: Yes, both applications can be used in parallel without any problems. Exception: if you install the Outlook plug-in supplied with the Business Communication app (see chapter 16 of the instruction manual), Skype4Business must be uninstalled in order to avoid possible compatibility problems. Smartphone: Yes, both applications can be used in parallel without any problems.

What is the difference between "My contacts", "Directory" and "Outlook"?

"My contacts" are personal contacts in the Business Communication app. When you open the Business Communication app for the first time, "My contacts" is empty. In order to make it easier to use presence information and instant messaging with your contacts, you need to store them under "My contacts".

The "Directory" displays the centrally managed company telephone directory. External numbers can be added by the company administrator or Swisscom partner.

Outlook shows your available contacts in the installed Outlook software. Note: company-wide Microsoft® Office 365 contacts are not displayed here.

What is "My Room"?

"My Room" is a place where you can communicate with several people from inside and outside the company at the same time. You can also use online meetings to exchange instant messages (chat) or share your screen. "My Room" is suitable for spontaneous and planned, regular online meetings with up to 30 participants. Each person has their own room and can invite other people to it, while work colleagues can enter another employee's room at any time.

Can I use the UCC functions with people outside the company?

With people who do not use the Business Communication app: you can invite people using guest access. Guest access enables an unlimited number of people from outside the company to participate in an online meeting. This uses the web browser (Chrome) and does not require any other software to be installed. To use chat and presence information with people outside the company, you can exchange IM addresses (chat addresses) with the contact and add them to your personal address book in the app. You can find your IM address in the Customer Centre. If you cannot access the Customer Centre, ask your administrator, who can register you for the Customer Centre or tell you your IM address. Important: your IM address is not the same as your username. With people who use the Business Communication app: in order to use UCC functions such as instant messaging (chat) and presence information with people outside the company who use the Business Communication app, you need their chat address (IM address) and to add them as a contact. Note: your username is not your IM address.

How can I stop people entering "My Room"?

You can stop people dialling into your room. By dialling "*4", you can block access to a conference (no more participants can dial in).

In your Customer Centre settings, you can also stipulate for your own conference room that you, as conference owner, must be available at the start of an online meeting.

Can I block access to an online meeting, e.g. if meetings overlap?

You can stop people dialling into your room. By dialling "*4", you can block access to a conference (so no more participants can dial in) and later reopen it. In your Customer Centre settings, you can also ensure that an online meeting cannot start until you have dialled in as the owner and that it automatically ends for all participants as soon as you leave the meeting.

Where can I find meeting invitations? How do I organise a meeting?

Go to "My Room" and click on the symbol more (PC and smartphone). You have the following options:

1. Copy My Room Invitation (PC only) Text template to copy manually into an invitation (e.g. for calendar entry)
