The challenge: a dynamic pool of employees

MEV places train drivers, inspectors and other operating personnel with its customers. Due to the increasing demand for qualified staff, the number of employees often increases at short notice. Previously, all employees received an e-mail account and an Office package for connection to MEV. Administering personnel changes on the old Exchange platform involved significant effort and was often complicated. “In addition, our employees used different Office versions. This not only made collaboration more difficult – updating and administering the licences was no picnic either,” says Matthias Löser, IT manager, describing the difficulties. “That’s why Swisscom found our doors open when they approached us with their Office 365 solution.”

The solution: efficient communication on all tracks

The Swisscom partner baselnetgroup AG successfully implemented Office 365 at MEV. They took care of planning and implementing the rollouts as well as migrating the data. Today, collaboration within MEV runs without a hitch: all employees have the same up-to-date Office version and communicate via the integrated e-mail platform without any losses due to friction. And, what’s more, new tools such as instant messaging, availability status and OneDrive are used enthusiastically – which ensures greater efficiency. When a new employee starts, MEV receives an Office 365 licence for him or her within a very short time, enabling the employee to work on up to five terminal devices immediately. The monthly flat-rates for the licences, of which there are approximately 120, also include Swisscom’s fault support.

The result: more performance for less money.

«We have always strived to supply our employees with IT tools centrally and easily,” explains Matthias Löser. “With Office 365, this works perfectly. We no longer need to provide support with installations, save the effort required for operating our own Exchange server, and administering the users involves no effort whatsoever: the licences can be activated immediately – which is a huge advantage!
