Phishing incidents as the trigger

The way people work today has changed fundamentally. Employees are mobile, access company data at any time and expect everything to work instantly. At Tulux AG, field sales employees used private smartphones: private numbers, private apps and a high degree of personal responsibility. Phishing attacks and insecure access were a real risk, while the resources needed to operate complex security solutions were limited. In one specific case, a username and password were disclosed. Because the affected employee reported the incident immediately, Tulux was able to respond quickly: passwords had to be changed for all users and password strength requirements were adjusted.

Simplicity, acceptance and zero maintenance effort

As the sole IT manager at Tulux AG, Heinz Schleiss needs one thing above all: a security solution that works reliably and creates no additional effort in day-to-day operations. In an environment with limited resources, security must not become a burden; it has to provide relief. That is why it was clear to him from the outset that any new solution must not generate additional support cases. Acceptance within the company is equally important. Employees should be able to continue working in the way they are used to, without having to deal with new tools, applications or login processes. Security is only accepted and used consistently in everyday work when it is seamlessly integrated.

«We no longer need to worry about the security of our mobile devices.»

Heinz Schleiss, IT Manager, Tulux AG

Security that works in the background and relieves the front line

With beem, Tulux relies on an approach that integrates seamlessly into existing ways of working. Protection runs automatically in the background and takes effect exactly where it is needed, without employees having to take action. Security is no longer perceived as an obstacle, but as a natural part of daily work. “It had to be simple. The user should not have to do anything,” says Heinz Schleiss.

The added value is particularly evident in everyday IT operations. In the past, uncertainty often prevailed when field employees reported unusual incidents. Today, there are clear answers. Threats are detected and blocked directly, reducing support effort while building trust. A key driver of this development is the shift in working habits. New employees now expect to be able to work anytime and from anywhere. Mobile use, direct access and real-time availability have long since become standard. Security solutions must support this reality, not stand in its way.

beem achieves exactly this balance. Protection is delivered without additional complexity and accompanies employees in the background, regardless of how or where they work. The rollout was correspondingly pragmatic. When Tulux switched to company smartphones, beem was activated directly and had an immediate impact. Initial operating experience confirms its practical value in everyday use. “A field employee contacted us because he could not open a page. One look at the address immediately showed why, and you could sense the relief at the other end of the phone,” says Heinz Schleiss, describing the situation. This shows what makes the difference: security identifies risks before they become a problem, without interrupting the flow of work. For Tulux, the benefit is clear: IT is relieved, employees continue working as before and the level of security increases noticeably. It is precisely this combination that makes beem a key component of a modern, future-ready IT environment.

But the development does not stop there. Following the successful deployment on mobile devices, Tulux AG is taking the next logical step: the company’s locations and all devices connected there – such as production machines, printers and workstations – are also to be automatically protected against cyberthreats with beem. The added value is clear: security is no longer implemented selectively but considered holistically. Devices, users and locations are protected together, without creating additional complexity. “beem will become an essential part of our IT security strategy,” emphasises Heinz Schleiss. This clearly shows where the journey is heading: from a simple, effective solution for mobile devices to an integrated security architecture that grows with the company’s needs.
