Internet-Booster

Faster Internet with the Internet-Booster

What is the Internet-Booster?

The Internet-Booster is an additional device that adds mobile to your existing Internet connection, thus increasing the Internet speed in your home by up to 100 Mbit/s. However, the additional Internet speed of the Internet-Booster has no effect on the availability of Swisscom TV.

Requirements & order

The Internet-Booster can be activated as an option by existing inOne home subscribers with Internet S or M or with Vivo S or M as an option. The Internet-Booster is available to new customers in combination with an inOne home with Internet S or M. Your DSL connection speed must be lower than 70 Mbit/s. Internet-Booster availability depends on both the length of the copper line and the mobile signal where you live. To check whether you satisfy the requirements for the Internet-Booster, proceed as follows.

  1. Visit www.swisscom.ch/internet-booster to find out whether the Internet-Booster is available to you. If no details are displayed, then Internet-Booster is not available in your area.

  2. Check whether you have an inOne Home with Internet S or M, or Vivo S or M in the Customer Center.
  3. If you have the right subscription, you will see the "Order Internet-Booster" link under "My products and services" > "My Internet” in the Customer Center.

  4. If you do not have inOne Home with Internet S or M, or Vivo S or M (but a Vivo XS for example), you can find out in the Customer Center whether the Internet-Booster is available to you if you change your subscription. The Internet-Booster can be ordered at the same time as a change of subscription.

Setup

You can set up the Internet-Booster yourself. The 4G mobile connection is free and activated automatically. Please refer to the installation instructions.

There are three installation steps:

  • Hold up your smartphone at open windows to determine which offers the best 4G reception
  • Mount the Internet-Booster inside and outside this window and connect the device to the power.
  • Connect the Internet-Booster to the Internet-Box 2 using the Ethernet cable (recommended) or via WLAN.

You may experience connection problems if you use the Internet-Booster in tandem with the Ethernet Switch at home. Go to problem solving .

LED lights up or flashes

4G/LTE LED: Connection to mobile network

If the 4G/LTE LED lights up red all the time, it means that the connection between the mobile mast and Internet-Booster is only moderate. A better connection can be achieved if the Internet-Booster is installed at another window with better mobile reception.

If the LED flashes red, the device cannot connect to the mobile mast at all as there is insufficient 4G reception. In this case, install the Internet-Booster at another window with better mobile reception.

WLAN LED: Connection to the Internet-Box 2

If the WLAN LED lights up red all the time, the connection between the Internet-Booster and Internet-Box 2 is only moderate. Reduce the distance between the Internet-Booster and Internet-Box 2.

If the WLAN LED flashes red, the Internet-Booster and Internet-Box 2 have failed to connect. Once again, you should reduce the distance between the Internet-Booster and Internet-Box 2.
