How to avoid roaming charges

Close to the Swiss border, your mobile phone may automatically connect to the mobile phone network from a neighbouring country – for example the German „Deutsche Telekom“ or Austrian “A1”.

Unnoticed, this automatic carrier switch can generate unnecessary roaming charges.

How to disable automatic carrier switching

Most smartphones allow you to disable the automatic carrier selection. This is how it works:


iPhone

  1. Go to settings
  2. Select "Carrier"
  3. Switch off “Automatic”
  4. Select “Swisscom”
