Disable automatic carrier switching

Using your phone in the Swiss border region

How to avoid roaming charges

Close to the Swiss border, your mobile phone may automatically connect to the mobile phone network from a neighbouring country – for example the German “Deutsche Telekom” or Austrian “A1”.

Unnoticed, this automatic carrier switch can generate unnecessary roaming charges.

How to stay on the Swisscom mobile network

Remain on the Swisscom network by disabling the automatic carrier selection. This is how it works:

With most smartphones you can disable the automatic network selection. In this fashion your device uses solely the Swisscom mobile network.

Go to settings
Select “Carrier”
Switch off “Automatic”
Select “Swisscom”

Samsung Galaxy devices

Go to settings
Select “Mobile networks”
Select “Network operators”
Choose “Swisscom”
