The following requirements must be met for Kids Security to work:
No, the child’s device only needs an internet connection for the following features to work:
The Kids Security app must be installed on both the parent’s device and the child’s device. Only then can you set up Kids Security.
Download and install the Kids Security app now:
Once the Kids Security app is installed on both the parent’s device and the child’s device, you can set up Kids Security in just a few steps. Here’s how:
Open the Kids Security app on your device.
Log in using your Swisscom login details.
Create a profile for your child in the Kids Security app on your device.
Now open the Kids Security app on the child’s device. A QR code will appear. Scan this QR code using the parent’s device and confirm the connection.
Work with your child to set rules, e.g. daily screen time, permitted apps, times of use, permitted websites, etc. → You can set these rules on the parent’s device in the Kids Security app, in your child’s profile.
Depending on the device, features and rules, the Kids Security app requires certain permissions. You can enable these when setting up the app on your child’s device or adjust them later in the settings.
You can use the following features on the parent device in the Kids Security app and set them up individually for each child:
Set a time limit per day for each device. Just before the time runs out, your child will receive a reminder and can ask you for extra time with a single click.
Parent’s device > Child’s profile > Time limit
You can allow, block or set time limits for apps. You can set individual rules and time limits for each app.
Parent’s device > Child’s profile > Time limit > Time limit per app
Kids Security already automatically filters out unsuitable and age-inappropriate websites and content. However, you can add more or unblock restricted content.
Parent’s device > Child’s profile > Internet > Manage websites
Use handy modes such as Study Mode, which only allows study apps to be used whilst doing homework, or Locked Mode, which only allows phone calls to be made.
Parent’s device > Child’s profile > Apps > Allowed in Locked/Study Mode
Check your child’s location. Your child will be notified. You can also set up areas (geofences) and be automatically notified when your child enters or leaves them.
Parent’s device > Child’s profile > Location > Show more > Queries
Parent’s device > Child’s profile > Geofences
Only carers can delete Kids Security. The child cannot delete the app from their device or disable the parental controls themselves.
Open the Kids Security app on the parent’s device.Tap the profile icon in the top left-hand corner > Settings > Accounts.
Select ‘Delete account’.
You can uninstall the app from the parent’s device and the child’s device.
If you no longer wish to use Kids Security, cancel the service in My Swisscom(opens in new tab).
Some Huawei devices may not work properly if Google Play Services are missing. MacBooks, Kindles and Fire tablets are not officially supported.
In general, the Kids Security app works on all devices running a recent version of iOS, Android or Windows.
Check that you meet all the requirements and that the necessary permissions are enabled.
Please also note that for some functions, the child’s device must be connected to the internet.
You can use the Kids Security app with as many children, devices and carers as you like.
Kids Security helps you and your child to stay safe in the digital world, but it is no substitute for personal guidance and communication with your child. Swisscom cannot guarantee that Kids Security will detect or block all harmful incidents in good time.
The Smart App Check assesses whether apps are age-appropriate. The assessment takes into account whether the content is suitable, what interactions are possible and what educational value the app offers. You’ll receive a clear assessment and won’t need to research every app yourself.
Kids Security is all about transparency. Your child can see the limits, receives reminders and can request extra time. Your child is notified whenever their location is checked. There is no hidden monitoring mode.
Kids Security uses a VPN solely as a secure DNS connection to identify inappropriate websites and reliably block them for children. No data other than the domain name is transmitted.
