Basic service provision

Internet and fixed network basic service provision

As part of the basic service provision we offer fixed-line and broadband Internet access with a minimum transmission speed of 2 Mbit/s (downloading) and 200 kbit/s (uploading).

Swisscom is only offering analogue and ISDN fixed network telephony until the end of 2017. Switch to the IP product Swisscom Line basic, with benefits such as Callfilter, HD-Voice and additional functions. The MultiLINE option allows you to continue using several telephone numbers.

Surfing and telephony without broadband Internet access

Mobile and satellite solutions

In around two percent of homes DSL broadband Internet access with the required minimum transmission rate is not possible. Non-broadband enabled, wired connections can be found in households in almost all municipalities in Switzerland. There are various options of providing public service Internet access in these homes as well.

If you have any questions, please contact our freephone hotline 0800 800 800.

Mobile solution

Internet access via the mobile network can be set up quickly and easily. The external antenna is installed where reception is best. Swisscom will provide you with the necessary equipment.

Satellite solution

The two-way satellite solution can usually be installed quickly and easily. Swisscom will provide you with the necessary equipment. In some communities, a building permit is required for the installation of satellite equipment. Please enquire about the permit in your community – Swisscom can provide assistance if required.

Previous offers

EconomyLine and MultiLINE ISDN are only available until the end of 2017. Swisscom therefore recommends switching now to the equivalent IP product, Swisscom Line basic, which is also available with unlimited telephony and several telephone numbers if desired.

New basic service provision from 2018

New rules apply for the basic service provision from 01.01.2018. Swisscom will make a product available that includes fixed network telephony (IP) and, if required, Internet with a minimum bandwidth of 3/0.3 Mbit/s. If customers need several telephone numbers, they can also reserve the MultiLINE option with 2 or 3 numbers. If they have the MultiLINE option, they can acquire a free router with an ISDN interface. Conventional ISDN telephones can still be operated on this router, but Swisscom advises against using ISDN telephones with the new IP fixed network telephony because the customer cannot benefit from the advantages of IP telephony, such as HD-Voice etc. with the old ISDN devices.
