Find out about options for new multimedia services and how Swisscom recommends you convert your property to reap the maximum benefits.
Analogue cable television is gradually being replaced by new digital services from various providers. In future, television services will therefore be provided via your telephone connection, cable network and fibre optics.
Let your tenants choose their own television services: cancel the contract for your property with your cable network provider and let your tenants choose the provider for their own individual contract for telephony, Internet and TV. The cable network providers are familiar with this procedure and will write to the tenants directly to agree individual contracts once the contract has been cancelled.
You will find the documents for terminating the contract with your current cable provider and subsequent tenant information here:
Give your residents the opportunity to use all telecommunications services in every room through
a central distribution box. How can you use these various services in different rooms?
Star-shaped Ethernet cabling or at least laying empty conduits into every room is strongly recommended by Swisscom for new buildings. The home cabling brochure will show you the various options for the latest home cabling. Of course, the Swisscom specialist dealers in your area will be happy to offer you professional advice.
As an alternative to conventional copper or coax options, and for properties of a certain size, Swisscom offers a fibre optics home connection in selected areas.
Swisscom determines the fibre optics network areas and subsequently contacts authorities and owners of buildings in a development area directly. They can then conclude a contract for connecting these properties to the fibre optics network. The Swiss Homeowner’s Association (HEV Schweiz) is actively involved in drafting this contract. Various infrastructure providers and other property associations also advocate the contract and recommend their members to accept it or forward it in this form.
The contract terms are very attractive if concluded immediately. You receive a free home connection to the fibre optics network and, in most cases, a free fibre optics riser shaft to individual homes. If the contract is not signed prior to the planned development, we can no longer guarantee these terms.
The internal cabling up to the apartment (the riser zone) is part of your property, and this riser zone must be upgraded in order to be connected to the fibre optics network. You can arrange your property’s connection through a contract that contains all the framework conditions and details the specific upgrade procedures between you and Swisscom.
With FiberSpot, Swisscom offers you the option to connect developments with more than approximately 80 units (apartments or commercial units) directly with fibre optics even outside of the fibre optics development areas.
If you want to have a FiberSpot installed in your development, it not only needs to have a certain number of units and a utility room, but you must also be prepared to upgrade all apartments with four fibres in accordance with the OFCOM guidelines. You will receive adequate compensation for the required space in the utility room, the power consumption of the telecommunications equipment and the use of two optical fibres by Swisscom.
A FiberSpot that connects your development with fibre optics results in benefits for everyone involved.
