Internet and fixed network basic service provision

As part of the public service provision, we offer a broadband connection with a minimum transmission rate of 2 Mbit/s for every location in Switzerland. The upper price limit for a broadband connection (incl. telephone connection) with this data rate is CHF 55 per month (excluding VAT).

Mobile and satellite solutions

In around two percent of homes DSL broadband Internet access with the required minimum transmission rate is not possible. Non-broadband enabled, wired connections can be found in households in almost all municipalities in Switzerland. There are various options of providing public service Internet access in these homes as well.

Mobile solution

Wireless Home Connection

Mobile Internet is available as a PC card, a USB modem, integrated in selected notebooks and as a router. In addition to the device, you will need a Swisscom SIM card and the appropriate “Wireless Home Connection” data subscription. If you have good reception, no installations will be required in or on your home for the mobile solution.

Satellite solution

Internet Access via Satellite

The two-way satellite solution can usually be installed quickly and easily. Swisscom will provide you with the necessary equipment. In some communities, a building permit is required for the installation of satellite equipment. Please enquire about the permit in your community – Swisscom can provide assistance if required.
