When/how can I use the Apple Watch Series 3 without my phone?
You can preorder the Apple Watch Series 3 LTE from 15 September 2017. LTE connectivity (phone calls, texts, streaming etc. with just your watch) won't be available just yet. But you won't have to wait too long: by the end of 2017, Swisscom residential and SME customers will be able to connect their new Apple Watch Series 3 to the Swisscom mobile network with Multi Device. Once available, together with Multi Device you will be able to use your inOne mobile subscription with your Apple Watch for the first 6 months at no additional cost.
To use the Apple Watch with Multi Device you will need:
Note: When Multi Device becomes available for Apple Watch, your iPhone will prompt you to update iOS, watchOS, and your carrier settings. After that, you can set up Multi Device in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone under "My Watch".
Which wireless network features does the new Apple Watch Series 3 support?
Once used together with Multi Device, your Apple Watch Series 3 seamlessly connects to the Swisscom cellular network whenever it’s not connected to a nearby iPhone or Wi-Fi access point. Apple Watch supports voice and data over 3G and 4G.
Can I use the Apple Watch Series 3 abroad?
Roaming outside the Swisscom provider network coverage area is not available for the Apple Watch Series 3 even though Multi Device supports roaming. However, you will continue to be connected when your Apple Watch is in proximity of your iPhone or connected to Wi-Fi.
