Swisscom can provide consumers with a broadband connection as part of the basic service provision,
if required. This usually provides an Internet connection with an average minimum transmission rate
of 1000/100 Kbit/s.
The upper price limit for a broadband connection (incl. telephone connection) with this data rate is
CHF 55 per month (excluding VAT).
In around two percent of homes DSL broadband Internet access with the required minimum transmission rate is not possible. Non-broadband enabled, wired connections can be found in households in almost all municipalities in Switzerland. There are various options of providing public service Internet access in these homes as well.
