Recommendations

If used daily

If you don’t need the router for several hours, it is best to disconnect it from the power. Although starting up takes a moment, you reduce energy consumption considerably in comparison to the on mode. However, the Internet, fixed network telephony (IP) and Swisscom TV are not then operational.

Important: Once a month you must leave your router switched on for four nights in succession so we can update the security settings.

If you already make calls via Swisscom's new IP fixed-network telephone service, your router must be set up for both incoming and outgoing calls. You can set up "Emergency call forwarding in case of no connection" in the Customer Centre so that incoming calls are forwarded to a telephone number of your choice if the router is switched off.

In case of non-use for a longer period of time

If you don’t need the device for several days or even weeks, e.g. during the holidays, it is best to disconnect it from the power along with the mains adapter. This further reduces consumption considerably. However, the Internet, fixed network telephony (IP) and Swisscom TV are not then operational.
