The digital transformation of an international organisation
Established in 1999, PEFC, the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification is a leading global alliance of national forest certification systems, serving forest owners, industries, governments, NGOs and consumers. On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, PEFC decided to take the bold step of moving its tools, processes and governance to a digital, integrated and results-oriented model in order to strengthen its capacity to lead into the future.
The challenge: moving from fragmented tools to a coherent digital backbone
Prior to the transformation, PEFC’s systems were heterogeneous and fragmented, limiting its capacity for analysis, coordination and reporting.
Teams had to contend with dispersed data, duplicated manual tasks and a lack of clarity into strategy implementation. This complexity impacted responsiveness and compromised transparency for members, donors and governance bodies.
