Free installation
The 5G receiver will be fitted free of charge to the outside of the building by a Swisscom installation partner.
Various installation options
The 5G receiver can be installed in various ways. Swisscom’s installation partner works with the customer to select the best location for the best possible reception and the most suitable installation method.
Connection to your Internet Box
The 5G receiver is connected to the power supply and the router via a special ribbon cable positioned beneath the window. Other devices are then connected to the Internet Box as usual, either via Wi-Fi or by cable.
Improve your Wi-Fi with a WLAN-Box
With Swisscom WLAN-Boxes, you can easily improve the Wi-Fi coverage of your internet router wirelessly and ensure the best possible Wi-Fi throughout your home.
Simple outdoor installation
The 5G receiver must be mounted on the outside of the building to ensure optimal reception. This small device is installed free of charge by a Swisscom installation partner and can also be easily removed again.

What is a fixed 5G mobile connection (also known as 5G Fixed Wireless Access)?
A fixed 5G mobile connection – known as 5G Fixed Wireless Access or 5G FWA – is a broadband solution in which the internet connection is provided via the mobile network. Instead of a physical line such as copper or fibre-optic cable, a 5G mobile connection is used, which provides high bandwidth and a stable internet connection.
Where is a fixed 5G mobile connection available?
A fixed 5G mobile connection is only available at locations that are not connected via copper or fibre-optic cables, or where the copper connection is due to be switched off in the coming months and there is also sufficient mobile network capacity.

Why is a change to the mains connection necessary?
Modern network infrastructures are more powerful, more stable and more sustainable in the long term than today’s copper network. The technology underpinning the existing copper network is over 150 years old and is increasingly reaching its technical and economic limits.
How are affected customers kept informed?
Swisscom will inform each affected customer personally and in good time of the forthcoming disconnection of their copper line. Swisscom will support customers as they switch to 5G FWA.
What products and what speeds do customers get with a fixed 5G mobile connection?
With a 5G mobile connection, blue Internet is available at the following speeds:
- blue Internet S: up to 100 Mbit/s download and up to 50 Mbit/s upload
- blue Internet M: up to 1 Gbit/s download and up to 200 Mbit/s upload
Is it actually possible to achieve the advertised subscription speed in practice with a fixed 5G mobile connection?
Actual performance may vary depending on reception conditions and the time of day. This assumes that the 5G receiver has been installed correctly.
Will the customer incur any costs when switching to 5G FWA?
No, there are generally no costs involved in switching your connection from copper to 5G FWA. However, if the relocation of the router results in Wi-Fi coverage issues, additional costs for a Wi-Fi booster may apply.
Will there be any change to the monthly subscription price for customers with a 5G FWA connection?
No, provided the customer already has a blue Internet subscription. For customers with older subscriptions (e.g. Vivo), the price may change because the new blue home products offer significantly better performance.
