WLAN-Box 5: powerful WLAN throughout the home with Wi-Fi 7 

Experience seamless WLAN coverage throughout your home with an additional WLAN-Box 5 from Swisscom. You can extend the WLAN range of your existing router and ensure a fast, stable WLAN connection – in every room and on every floor. Thanks to the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard, it will deliver a cumulative WLAN speed of up to 6.5 Gbit/s and is equipped with a 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet port. And, thanks to WLAN mesh technology, you can connect up to four WLAN-Boxes to your router.  

Possible applications

The WLAN-Box can be used in different ways to suit different needs:

  1. To increase WLAN range by connecting to the router via WLAN 
    Increases the WLAN range with the WLAN-Box connected to the router via the WLAN network – with no additional network cable.
  2. To increase WLAN range by connecting to the router via cable  
    Increases the WLAN range at maximum WLAN performance with the WLAN-Box connected to the router using a network cable. This connection method is ideal when there is home cabling available or if the router is installed in the distribution box.
  3. To enable devices that are far away from the router to be connected by cable   
    Ideal for devices without WLAN or devices that are located some distance away from the router, and with which no WLAN connection can be made or there is a poor WLAN connection (e.g. TV-Box or games console). The WLAN-Box connects these devices and at the same time amplifies the WLAN signal. 

Sustainability

Material

  • The WLAN-Box 5 housing is made from 65% recycled plastic.
  • The giftbox is made from 100% recycled cardboard, with no plastic used.

Swisscom devices sustainability 

 To determine the environmental emissions, a comprehensive life cycle analysis was carried out for the WLAN-Box 5 and it received the Green Product label certified by TÜV Rheinland, which proves the sustainability of the device. 

Carbon footprint

The Wi-Fi Box 5 generates 10.1 kg of CO2 during its production and approximately 32.9 kg of CO2 over an average 5-year lifespan when using the Swiss electricity mix. These emissions are roughly equivalent to a 230 km car journey or a 5,400 km train journey.
