Safecom
In our complex and interconnected world, crisis preparedness is essential.
A reliable, guaranteed emergency communication solution is the key to being able to respond quickly and effectively.
In an exceptional situation, such as a large-scale power outage or a cyberattack, conventional means of communication such as telephones, the internet and mobile networks can break down very quickly. Alternative means of communication are then required. A robust emergency communication infrastructure enables private and official crisis teams, security operation centres and other organisations or stakeholders to communicate and take coordinated action. With Safecom, you remain capable of taking action and able to communicate with the designated persons even in the event of large-scale and long-lasting incidents.

Safecom enables stable communication even in critical situations. It is a crisis-resistant communications solution that remains available even in the event of public network outages (electricity and communication).
Safecom is for customers who require stable communication with designated sites at all times, including in a crisis.
The solution is based on a Switzerland-wide network of redundant radio relay and fibre-optic connections linking high-altitude Swisscom Broadcast transmitter sites (radio stations), which is supported by emergency power. Customer sites link directly to this high-altitude network.
Our crisis-resistant communications solution has at least 10 days of power grid autonomy. The link between the customer sites and high-altitude network site requires power only at the two endpoints. At the customer site, Safecom is connected to the customer’s emergency power supply.
With Safecom, the reserved bandwidth is available to customers at all times, as it is a dedicated network. In satellite solutions, connections are often not guaranteed in extraordinary situations, as many users share the network. Safecom Voice has high voice quality. Please note: Safecom is a Swiss solution based on Swisscom networks and transmitter sites. It is not dependent on foreign service providers.
The network connection of the devices is continuously monitored, and we have specialists throughout Switzerland to offer fast support. All Swisscom Broadcast employees are security screened.
