Set up family protection

Child and youth protection on the Internet: My Security family protection blocks dangerous content depending on the protection level. Activate parental controls on your loved ones' devices.

As of March 30, 2026, we are updating the family protection of My Security.

Here's what to do from then on:

  1. Select the appropriate protection level on the child's device.

What you can also expect: 

  • Better protected apps - now also with active WLAN protection (VPN)
  • Password manager also available for children 

Select protection level

Select the protection level on your child's device that suits you best. The blocked content changes depending on the protection level.

Basic

Blocked: Content that is illegal, disturbing, adult or related to drugs, hate or violence

Allowed: Content relating to alcohol and tobacco products, illegal downloads, dating, anonymizers, shopping and auctions, streaming media

Moderate

Blocked: Everything from "Standard" plus content on alcohol and tobacco products, illegal downloads, dating, anonymizers

Allowed: Content on shopping and auctions as well as streaming media

Strict

Blocked: Everything from "Moderate" plus content on shopping and auctions as well as streaming media

Additional protective functions

You can set up screen times, app locks and other usage limits directly in the device settings. They are no longer part of My Security family protection.

Set up family protection on an additional device

To protect a new or additional device, first install the latest version of the My Security app on the device in question.

  1. Open the My Security app on the device you want to protect.
  2. Select "People and devices".
  3. Enter a profile name for the child's device.
  4. Select "Set up family protection" and follow the instructions.
  5. Set a PIN that the child does not know.
  6. Select your desired protection level "Standard", "Moderate" or "Strict".
  7. Lock the device.
