Bill items explained

Wondering what certain amounts on your Swisscom bill mean? Find out what is meant by the bill items in the bill details.

In this section, you can see all active subscriptions (e.g. your mobile, Internet or TV subscription). The subscription costs appear in the month in which you use the subscription.

This category lists all additional options booked for your subscriptions, such as a data package or a roaming option. The costs are broken down in detail for each contract.

What does a negative amount on my invoice mean? This is not a mistake: Discounts and benefits that reduce your invoice amount, e.g. a Combi Discount, are listed under "Subscription benefits".

Under "Calls" you will find all chargeable calls that are not included in your subscription - e.g. calls to special numbers or abroad.

Do you see an installment on your bill? This section lists device financing, purchases in the Swisscom Shop and third-party services via the cell phone bill.

Under "Insurance" you will find all insurance premiums that are billed monthly via Swisscom, e.g. for device or legal protection.

You can also find the details directly on your bill from page 3 (see example). For a paper bill, check the "Bill details" box in My Swisscom > Shipping settings(opens in new tab) to display the details.

Unusual bill

Your Swisscom bill is higher than usual or the amounts seem wrong to you? The Swisscom bill may differ from the usual bill amount for the following reasons:

If your bill is unexpectedly higher, this may be due to unpaid amounts from the previous month or additional charges:

  • Payment reminder: If you fail to pay your bill on time after the initial free reminder, you will be charged a reminder fee of CHF 30.–. The first reminder:
    - is free of charge for customers who have not received a reminder for more than 12 months.
    - costs CHF 30 for customers who have already received a reminder within the last 12 months.

The second reminder costs CHF 30.

The third reminder with a blocking notice costs CHF 30.
  • Phone unblocking: We charge CHF 60.– if your phone needs to be unblocked.
  • Payment at a Swiss Post counter/in the Swisscom Shop: If you pay your bill at a Swiss Post counter, you will be charged an additional CHF 3.90. There is a charge of CHF 6.90 in the Swisscom Shop. Free payment options
  • Copies of bills: If you request a copy of the invoice by e-mail (CHF 4.90 for max. 6 copies) or by post (CHF 9.90 for max. 6 copies), the fees will be charged on the Swisscom invoice. Each additional 6 copies are considered an additional order. CHF 4.90 (e-mail) or CHF 9.90 (post) will be charged for each additional order.

If your bill is higher than last month and you haven't ordered anything new, this could be due to an expired promotion or a change of subscription:

  • Expired promotion or credit: A promotion or regular credit may have expired this month and you are now paying the regular price again.
  • Subscription change: If you change your subscription before the end of the month, the invoice amount is made up of the costs for your old and new subscription: The costs are charged pro rata for the number of days of the respective subscription.

Have you been abroad or made calls abroad? Calls to and from abroad are not included in every subscription and can unexpectedly increase your bill:

  • Roaming: If you use your cell phone abroad, additional charges may apply for calls, text messages or data usage, depending on your subscription.
  • Calls abroad: Calls from Switzerland to other countries are also not included in all subscriptions and are billed separately.

Using your mobile phone abroad

Do you see purchases on your bill that you didn't order from Swisscom? These may come from third-party providers that you paid for via your cell phone:

  • Swisscom Pay: Purchases from third-party providers that you paid for with Swisscom Pay will be charged to your Swisscom bill.
  • Purchase or rental of films: Digital content appears on your bill in the month of purchase.
  • SMS value-added services: Subscriptions or individual purchases via Premium SMS will also be charged to your Swisscom bill.

Is your first bill higher than expected? This is normal - the first bill after a new contract often contains more than just one regular month:

  • Pro rata costs: Your first invoice contains the subscription costs from the activation date to the end of the month. From the following month, the full subscription costs will be charged.
  • Additional subscription as an existing customer: If you have taken out an additional subscription as an existing customer, your next invoice will include the costs of both subscriptions.

Have you canceled a subscription and still receive an invoice? That's correct - a final invoice is usually issued after a subscription has been canceled. We use this to charge for all services used in the last month - including connections or purchases that have not yet been billed.
