Frequently asked questions about Swisscom Sign

Find your answers

Signatures for non-commercial use are free of charge – regardless of the signature type (SES, AES, QES). A use is considered commercial if there is a cash flow in connection with the document (e.g. employment, rental or supply contract). The following prices per signature apply for commercial use:
SES: CHF 0.95 per signature
AES: CHF 1.50 per signature
QES: CHF 2.40 per signature

With Swisscom Sign you can sign documents with a simple (SES), advanced (AES) and qualified electronic signature (QES).

  • SES: Simple electronic signature – documents without legal written form requirements or high liability risk (CHF 0.95 per signature). The SES is confirmed with a verified email address.
  • AES: Advanced electronic signature – signature with high probative value and authentication of the signatory (CHF 1.50 per signature). You can confirm an AES with a verified Swiss mobile number.
  • QES: Qualified electronic signature – legally equivalent to a handwritten signature (CHF 2.40 per signature). A QES requires one-time identification with a valid ID document (passport or ID card) and is approved via the MySwisscom App.

To be able to sign your documents electronically with Swisscom Sign, you need:

You can invite someone to co-sign a document. Here’s how:

  1. Place the signature field for the person who should sign the document.
  2. Pay for the additional signature in the case of commercial use.
  3. The invited person receives an email with the link to our website. There, they scan the QR code with their smartphone and access the document.
  4. If the invited person is not yet registered, they must complete a one-time identity verification using a valid identification document.
  5. The invited person signs the document.
  6. You will receive a confirmation email that the signing process has been completed and the document is ready for download.

After each completed signature process, you receive an e-mail with a link to the signed document - regardless of whether one or more people have signed it.
You can download the document via this link within 30 days. Please download it in good time and save it on your device or in a cloud, as it will then be deleted automatically.

On this Swiss Confederation web page, you can upload a document and check free of charge whether the qualified electronic signature is valid.

A scanned signature does not meet the requirements for a qualified electronic signature. So if you sign on a piece of paper, scan it and use it digitally, it is not legally equivalent to your handwritten signature, because it is easy to fake or reproduce.
