IoT is maturing. This is related to two current shifts: firstly, there is the shift of IoT applications towards the public cloud. Secondly, companies are increasingly focussing on customer benefits and new business models instead of pure technical feasibility when planning their IoT solutions.
The Internet of Things is the fertile ground on which pioneering innovations flourish: from a smart emergency kit, through medical diagnostics “as a service”, to vending machines that order their own refills, or networked drinking water kiosks in Africa.
