Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading telecoms company and one of its leading IT companies, is headquartered in Ittigen, close to the capital city Berne. Outside Switzerland, Swisscom has a presence on the Italian market in the guise of Fastweb. In the first half of 2022 around 19,000 employees generated sales of CHF 5,494 million. It is 51% Confederation-owned and is one of Switzerland’s most sustainable and innovative companies.

Swisscom only operates in Switzerland and Italy. In line with Swiss Federal Council policy, Swisscom may only hold interests outside of Switzerland if beneficial for the core business within the Swiss domestic market or of strategic importance.

In Switzerland, Swisscom offers residential customers an extensive range of TV, mobile telecommunications and other services. For business customers, its portfolio includes network, cloud and ICT services.

Current key figures

In the first half of 2022, revenue decreased by CHF 89 million or 1.6% year-on-year to CHF 5,494 million. Operating income before depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) declined by 5.4% or CHF 126 million to CHF 2,191 million. The Swisscom Group’s investments decreased year-on-year by CHF 30 million or 2.8% to CHF 1,053 million.

Our market share

Swisscom generates around 80% of its net revenue and operating income before depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) from business operations in Switzerland. The Swiss telecommunications market has an estimated total revenue volume of CHF 11 billion, the market for IT services has total revenue of about CHF 19 billion. Outside Switzerland we are primarily active in Italy, where, with Fastweb’s market share of 16% in the residential customer segment, we are number two in the broadband market.
