Swisscom is for the third time publishing an analysis of investment in Swiss FinTech startups. The analysis is based on investment in around 293 FinTech startups from the Swiss FinTech startup map in 2018. In addition to the overall investment volume in Switzerland, the study is also recording the distribution across the individual areas of activity. Compared to the previous year, investments in Swiss FinTechs rose sharply. While there were CHF 151 million venture capital investments in 2017, this figure climbed to CHF 321 million in 2018. The number of deals also rose, from 48 rounds of investment in 2017 to 67 in 2018.

In addition to venture capital investments, the volume and the number of ICOs also rose. While, in 2017, altogether 7 ICOs with a total volume of CHF 283 million took place, 2018 showed a growth to 15 ICOs with a total volume of CHF 386 million. Most of the ICOs took place in the first half of 2018 and the second half of the 2018 showed a decline.
