Around 2.9 million letters of demand are issued annually, with debt collection agencies collecting around CHF 700 million each year.
For an SME, especially medical practices, payment defaults are devastating. The effort involved in them having to take care of debtor management and, in particular, debt collection themselves is eye-watering. At the same time, they often lack the necessary skills and expertise.
Professional debt collection thanks to curaBILL and EOSSwisscom Health’s curaBILL system offers medical service providers in Switzerland comprehensive bill management, and even takes care of debt collection. Swisscom Health collaborates with EOS on debt collection cases.
EOS is a company with extensive expertise in this area. “We have specialists in all areas of debt collection: experts and lawyers, but also phone-based staff trained in psychology,” says Basil Schneuwly, Marketing & Communication Manager at EOS. “Because when it comes to debt collection, excellent communication skills are essential.”
“If a debt collection case comes to EOS, debt enforcement proceedings aren’t initiated immediately. We first send out a notification, which is usually quite effective. The person knows that things are serious,” says Schneuwly. If this doesn’t work, the EOS team will – if possible – try to talk to them.
What if you don’t receive payment? “An amicable solution can often be found, such as instalment payments that are reasonable for both the debtor and the creditor. Otherwise, you have the option of initiating the debt collection procedure,” says Schneuwly.
Swisscom Health also offers a del credere guarantee through curaBILL: in the event of debt collection, Swisscom Health settles the bill and becomes the patient’s creditor. In this way, doctors, MPAs and therapists are left to focus on what’s important: their patients.
