While nothing is more relaxing than watching a flock of sheep grazing in the field, life is rather more hectic for Woopies, especially when a bank wants to improve the acoustics in its offices, for example. “Various experts are involved in a project like that. They need to share highly detailed information quickly because the deadlines are usually very tight,” explains Philipp Ryser.

“Architects, acousticians, builders and we at Woopies all need to communicate with each other regularly in order to find the best solution. And we need to use all available channels: telephone, e-mail, face-to-face, video meetings and online chats. We share huge quantities of data, including photos, plans and drawings. We supply products with precise specifications and designs chosen by our customers, as well as organising the entire logistics chain.” As key players in each project, Woopies staff need to be able to respond quickly and accurately – wherever they are at the time.

What should you do if your ICT is slowing things down?

We used a private data centre via the Citrix virtual desktop,” explains Philipp Ryser. “It was often a sobering experience, especially abroad, where I had countless problems viewing things, sharing data was difficult at times and my telephone availability was limited. A total of six different service pro-viders were involved with our ICT, so keeping costs under control wasn’t easy.” How could Woopies remedy this unsatisfactory situation? I can achieve my aim of answering a customer query with-in half a day from the top of the mountain. With Teams, I can be reached by telephone on my landline number any-where in the world. We can share large image files with our partners using OneDrive and, ever since our ERP data has been stored in the Azure Cloud, the ERP has been per-forming much better – whether I’m working in the office in Switzerland or in Spain. We manage all our production processes, schedules and deliveries on Teams, where we also communicate efficiently with customers, manufac-turers and delivery firms. It’s all extremely convenient and productive.
