Over the next four years, Swisscom will be developing and building the new generation of data centre units for the Swiss Armed Forces. They’ll be secure, robust, autonomous, mobile and fully automated.
We’re creating solutions to threats in cyberspace and designing a flexible ICT environment that can also cope with disasters and emergencies. An environment of this size and complexity has never been built before in Switzerland. Turning the vision into reality calls for the expertise of many highly specialised IT staff at Swisscom. Maybe it’s no coincidence that I’ve taken up long-distance running – I can see many similarities between a marathon and my work. Good preparation, tactics, determination and stamina are all important. And just like in the security sector, it’s your heart, not your head, that gets you through the last mile. For my 42nd birthday, I treated myself to 42 kilometres – the New York City Marathon. Phenomenal!
