Increased security and comfort within your own four walls: Swisscom SmartLife

With SmartLife, Swisscom is launching a new, flexible control and security system for use in the home. The Internet of Things thus becomes a reality in residential buildings – SmartLife activates an alarm in the event of break-ins or a fire and allows electrical equipment and air conditioning systems to be monitored and controlled remotely, and safety sensors to be connected. SmartLife is now available as a kit from CHF 299 or as a subscription model from CHF 9.90 per month.

To begin with, there will be two SmartLife package options: the Security Starter Kit for CHF 299 contains the SmartLife Box as well as a door and window contact and remote control. The Security Surveillance Kit for CHF 499 contains all of the above as well as a mobile HD camera with motion sensor and an adapter. Both kits can be used to prevent break-ins and protect against dangerous situations, and notify owners in the event that either of these two events come to pass. Users can also check their home at any time via video stream to make sure that everything is ok. Upon request, customers can also arrange their SmartLife System to suit their individual needs. There are two subscriptions to choose from: with the Self Monitored subscription for CHF 9.90 per month, customers can be alerted to break-ins or fires immediately via phone call, e-mail or SMS; with the Intervention subscription for CHF 24.90 per month, Swisscom works together with security service provider SECURITAS, which will appear on site with security forces in the event of an emergency. In the event that SECURITAS makes an intervention, an intervention fee of at least CHF 250 is incurred, depending on the time spent at the premises.

SmartLife, developed by Swisscom, can be used by customers of all providers. The system is easy to install and simple to expand in order to meet your needs. Customers can select security and comfort settings from predefined scenarios or enter their own personal settings. The SmartLife app enables customers to easily control and monitor their household on their smartphones (iOS/Android) or via the Internet.

SmartLife is a further example of how Swisscom aims to accompany and support its customers in the networked world. The SmartLife kits are now available at www.swisscom.ch/smartlife. This page also features a wide variety of additional safety devices, such as water alarms, smoke alarms or multi sensors for monitoring air-conditioning systems. SmartLife replaces the current Quing system. Current Quing customers will receive the new system free of charge.
