School courses Cycle 2: Using the internet and social media

The internet opens up a wonderful world for young people: watching videos, listening to music, chatting on social networks, simply surfing the web and learning lots of new things in the process. It's no surprise that children and young people love being online. With so many possibilities, it's easy to lose sight of what's acceptable and what's risky. In our courses, children and young people learn about the advantages and disadvantages of new media through concrete examples. They reflect on their media consumption and analyse their own behaviour on social networks, as well as that of others.

Getting started with the internet

In this media course, pupils learn what responsible media use means and what rules need to be observed. They also gain practical knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of digital media.

The media literacy of pupils in a class is very heterogeneous and consists of their own media experience, media education and training. Based on an online self-assessment for pupils and in consultation with the teacher, we teach class-specific lessons (competence levels according to Bloom's taxonomy per subject area), thus doing justice to the heterogeneity of the class.
