Portrait Frank Esser

Frank Esser has been a member of the Swisscom Board of Directors since 2014. After completing his degree in business administration, he gained a doctorate in economics from the University of Cologne. His career began in 1988 at Mannesmann Germany, where he became a key driver in the development of mobile technology. After being appointed to the Executive Board in 1996, he moved to mobile telecommunications company SFR following Vodafone’s acquisition of Mannesmann. Initially as COO and, from 2002, as CEO, he was the driving force behind SFR becoming the second-largest mobile telecommunications company in France. In 2005, he was appointed to the Group Executive Board of Vivendi Group, where he was responsible for innovation strategy until 2012. Frank Esser is chairman of the Board of Directors of SES S.A., the management holding company of satellite operators.
