Portrait Fritz Zurbrügg

Fritz Zurbrügg has been a member of the Swisscom Board of Directors as Representative of the Confederation since 2023. After completing his doctoral studies at the University of Bern, he started his career in 1989 as a research assistant at the Federal Finance Administration FFA. In 1992, he joined the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as an economist in the Africa Department, before heading the IMF Section at the Swiss Federal Finance Administration from 1994 onwards. In 1998 he moved to Washington D.C. in the USA to take up the role of Senior Advisor and Executive Director of the Swiss constituency at the IMF. Following his return to Switzerland, he headed the Fiscal Policy, Fiscal Equalisation and Financial Statistics Division of the FFA, for which he assumed overall responsibility as Director in 2010. Finally, he took a seat on the Governing Board of the National Bank: first as a member, then from 2015 as Vice-President.
