What is a Swisscom children’s subscription and who is it for?

Swisscom offers two subscriptions for children aged between 7 and 15: inOne mobile care is a subscription for smartwatches (such as the TCL Family Watch or Apple Watch) and blue Kids Mobile is a mobile subscription.

Many children today between the ages of 7 and 10 start their digital journey with a smartwatch.
From the age of around 11, they move from a smartwatch to a mobile phone or are given a mobile phone to use alongside their smartwatch.

blue Kids Mobile

blue Kids Mobile is a mobile phone subscription from Swisscom that is designed to meet the needs of children and their parents.

With unlimited calls and data within Switzerland, the child is able to contact their parents at any time without needing to worry about running out of credit or data volume. They can also share their location at any time.
The subscription also comes with 5 GB of data for faster surfing; for streaming videos on long car journeys, for example.
Also included with the subscription is a monthly allowance for use abroad. This means that you can also communicate with your child when on holiday via WhatsApp and see where they are.

inOne mobile care

With the inOne mobile care smartwatch subscription, your child can make unlimited calls on their watch.
With the included data, children can also chat and use basic apps.
With this option too, the child can always be contacted when abroad.

This subscription is only available with the purchase of a smartwatch.

How do I support my child to use their phone and the Internet safely?

For many children, mobile phones and the Internet are an important part of daily life. There are also potential risks associated with using the Internet, however. It is therefore important for parents to support their children to use their mobile phones and the Internet safely. We have put together the following tips to help you with this:

Talk to your child openly: be sure to discuss with your children the specific risks associated with the Internet and how to protect themselves. Be open to any questions and concerns from your children and discuss with them what rules and limits you intend to impose in respect of their mobile phone and Internet use.
Monitor their use: make sure you know what your children are doing on the Internet and keep an eye on their online activities. Monitor their use of social networks, instant messaging apps and other online platforms and make sure they are not accessing or sending inappropriate content.
Use technology to your advantage: take advantage of technical solutions to increase the online safety of your children. Parental control software or browser extensions, for instance, can be used to block inappropriate content. You can also configure your home WLAN to restrict access to certain websites or content.
Joint activities: take the time to join in some online activities with your child. Play a video game with them or find time to watch videos together. This will help to increase your child’s awareness of safe Internet usage.
Set an example: act as a role model by using your own mobile phone and Internet responsibly. Avoid constantly checking your phone while eating or during family time and be mindful of the content your consume when in the presence of your children.

Can I also use the Swisscom Kids subscription while travelling outside of Switzerland?

Yes, thanks to the Roaming Safety Pack, your child will be able to contact you by phone in an emergency even when abroad.
blue Kids Mobile comes with a safety pack with inclusive services for use anywhere in the world. You can therefore enjoy the holidays with complete peace of mind.
Please note, however, that video streaming, gaming and video calls should be avoided while outside of Switzerland so as not to use up the included data volume in the Safety Pack too soon.

What happens when my child turns 16?

You will receive an e-mail from us two weeks before their 16th birthday, stating which subscription we will be moving the Kids subscription to on your child’s 16th birthday.
You are also welcome to drop by one of our Shops or give us a call to discuss the best option for you and your child.

What can my child do with 5 GB of data?

5 GB of data is sufficient for:

Viewing approx. 10 hours of YouTube videos in very high quality (720p), for example. This increases to approx. 18 hours in low quality (360p). With apps such as the blue TV app, you can download series and films via WLAN and watch offline. This saves data.
Spending approx. 30 hours on Instagram.
Spending approx. 16 hours on TikTok.
Approx. 15 hours of WhatsApp video calls.
Listening to approx. 100 hours of music (on Spotify for example). Downloading the music onto your device via WLAN is even better.
By comparison, apps such as the SBB app, calendar or weather apps use very little data.

What about if I go on holiday with my child?

The blue Kids Mobile and inOne mobile care subscriptions both come with a monthly allowance for use abroad:

This allowance should not be used for video streaming, but for functions such as location sharing or WhatsApp chats.

Which parental control functions are included with the Swisscom Kids subscription?

Access to value-added services is blocked in the Swisscom subscriptions for children and young people under the age of 16.

How do I sign up to inOne mobile prepaid young?

inOne mobile prepaid young is a prepaid add-on package that is always sold together with the basic tariff. The inOne mobile prepaid young add-on package is only available to children and young people aged between 7 and 18.

You can take out the add-on package in the name of the child or the parents. However, you must provide the child’s date of birth to allow us to activate the add-on package.

What does the prepaid offering for children include?

inOne mobile prepaid young is ideal for a young person’s first mobile phone. Your child will learn their way around a mobile phone while you retain complete cost control.

With 5 free numbers included, your child can contact you and other family members at any time. Calls to all additional numbers will be charged at the basic tariff of CHF 0.29/min. The sending of SMS is free.

Once the 500 MB high-speed data volume is used up, your child can continue to enjoy unlimited surfing at a reduced speed (of 128 kbit/s).

What does the product cost and how long is it valid?

inOne mobile prepaid young costs 9.90 and is valid for 30 days. The costs are deducted directly from the available credit. Provided there is sufficient credit available, the package will be renewed automatically after 30 days.

Any additional use will be debited directly from the previously paid credit. This means that no unexpected additional costs will be incurred. Your child can only use services that have already been paid for.

What happens if there is insufficient credit available?

If insufficient credit is available, the package will not be renewed automatically after 30 days. The terms of the inOne mobile prepaid basic tariff apply.

As soon as sufficient credit is once again available, you can simply re-activate the package at cockpit.swisscom.ch.(opens in new tab)

If the credit is completely used up and there is no active package, your child will not be able to make calls, send SMS or use data. To be able to use the mobile phone again, more credit will have to be added first.

How can I check my credit?

You can check your current credit balance in the Swisscom Cockpit or by sending an SMS.

In the Cockpit

You can view your current credit balance in the Swisscom Cockpit(opens in new tab). Access is free worldwide even with a credit of CHF 0.–.

Via SMS

Send an SMS with the word STATUS to 444. You will then receive an SMS showing the current credit balance and the used-up allowance.

How do I top up credit?

You can top up credit in the Cockpit, by voucher/Value PIN or by SMS.

In the Cockpit:

Go to the Swisscom Cockpit(opens in new tab) from your prepaid mobile phone. Enter the amount you wish to top up and select a regular credit card, TWINT or Swisscom bill as the payment method. You can access the Swisscom Cockpit for free worldwide, even if you have no credit left.

By Voucher/Value PIN

Buy a prepaid voucher at a point of sale. On your phone’s numeric keypad, enter the following: *123*14-digit_Value_PIN# call button

This will load the credit purchased on the voucher into your account. Vouchers are available at various points of sale (kiosks, petrol stations, Migros, Coop, Denner etc.).

By SMS (provided you have a blue Mobile subscription)

With a blue Mobile subscription, you can gift prepaid credit.

This function is only available if the recipient is under 18.
To do this, send an SMS to 444 from the mobile connected to the blue Mobile subscription with the follow info: ZAHLUNG “Mobile number” and “Amount”.

Parents can regularly donate credit to their child. How does that work?

As sponsors, you the parents can adjust and deactivate inOne mobile prepaid young for your child by a free SMS. This function is not mandatory.
Sponsors must be holders of a Swisscom residential mobile subscription and at least 18 years of age. On the first day of the month, a set amount (at least CHF 10.–) will be automatically credited to the child’s credit balance and debited from the sponsor’s (parent's) mobile bill.
NATEL® data subscriptions, business customer accounts and Corporate Mobile Network (CMN) accounts are excluded.
